In Loving Memory Of Conan

August 30, 2006

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that I report the demise of Conan the sweet and friendly 18-month-old golden-lab mix adopted from the Furry Friends
Foundation.

Conan got away from his pet-sitters on Friday, August 11, when someone accidentally left a door open.

Mike and Lisa Wieland, his loving humans, were on vacation at the time
of his disappearance; they rushed back to search for him. They
distributed thousands of flyers, did all the right things, but to no avail.

On August 29, the Wielands received a call from a railroad employee
letting them know that Conan’s body had been found beside the train
tracks near Schoolhouse Road in Frankfort, Illinois. His identity was
confirmed by information on his collar - his name, address and phone
number.

After following up every possible lead with gusto, the Wielands are
crushed by the loss. However, they now have closure on what has been a very trying ordeal for them, their family and friends … not to mention the rest of us who wondered each day where Conan was … wishing we could help bring him home.

The Wielands thank everyone for the outpouring of love and concern for their beloved dog.

I had the opportunity to work with the Weilands and Conan since he was a pup. Bonds like the one shared between this family are very special and he will be forever missed.

If you would like to send a personal note to Mike and Lisa, please do so at bigchill321@yahoo.com.

Thank you all for your attempts to bring Conan home, your offers of help and best wishes …
